Cancer Fundraiser Event for 2010. The event will donate $2.00 from
every jacket sold on our Jacket Shop site to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Funds will be turned in with a list of customers (names only)
who participated in this event. Please feel free to also donate directly

The fun and warmth of these jackets now has the chance to warm a heart and
smile, so please join us in the fight for awareness and cure of this disease
which unfortunately touches everyone.
Mission
Huntsman
Cancer Foundation's sole purpose is to fund the mission of Huntsman
Cancer Institute: to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that
knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to
relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education
about cancer risk, prevention, and care. The
Huntsman Cancer Foundation gives a Reason to Hope® to cancer patients
and their families and is dedicated to funding cancer research, cancer
treatment and education programs, research and patient-care facilities,
and to ensuring excellence in these endeavors through the development
and prudent stewardship of private resources. Huntsman Cancer
Foundation only funds requests for cancer programs at Huntsman Cancer
Institute.

Research = Hope
- Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s
(HCF) sole purpose is to fund research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI)
- In the US, one person dies from
cancer every minute of every day.
- One out of every three women
and one out of every two men will be diagnosed with cancer in their
lifetimes.
- Through research, HCI is moving
toward a more complete understanding of the genetic and molecular basis of
cancer. We, as human beings, are not the same, nor are our tumors
the same. HCI’s goal is to use genetic information to personalize
cancer risk assessment, treatment planning, and actual care.
- HCI’s goals are to:
- Assess individual risk
- Screen, detect, prevent
- Diagnose targeted therapies
- Minimize adverse effects
- HCI is a world leader in cancer
genetics. HCI has received international recognition for genetic
research. In 2007, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Dr.
Mario Capecchi, a pioneer in gene-targeting whose mouse models of cancer
allow us to make strides in our laboratories every day. In 2007, the
MacArthur Fellows Program, which celebrates extraordinarily creative
individuals who inspire new heights in human achievement, was awarded to
HCI scientist, Susan Mango, PhD.
